Sample Evaluation
One of the things I’ve been doing lately is working full-time with bigger companies (Civil Regime/Darc Sport, Sugar Hill, Gala Original) and honestly, the most important part always ends up being sample evaluation.
A lot of people think that just because they found a manufacturer on Alibaba, they can manage the whole production process but that’s not how it works. Most of the time, they’re not even talking to the actual factory. It’s usually someone sourcing or managing stuff for them. And without a proper tech pack, the factory is basically guessing what you want.
What I’ve seen is: people get their first dev or proto sample and then freeze when it’s time to go into production especially when they realize that means committing to like 100+ units. They don’t feel confident moving forward, and that’s where I’ve been fortunate to step in.
I take the sample, measure it, grab all the key points of measurement, and then run a proper fitting. From there, I adjust what needs to be adjusted and update specs so it’s actually ready for bulk. That’s the part most people skip and then consumers pay the price. I honestly think that’s why there’s no brand loyalty anymore.
I don’t really know how to offer this as a service other than just saying: $950 gets you a full form filled out, a fitting session, and a final tech pack with any bulk-ready adjustments. They will then make you a pre-production sample to confirm any changes (including artwork.)
In the end, it’s the same work I used to do when I was physically sewing and producing, except now every stage is all documented cleanly in a PDF.
If that sounds like something you need, DM me on Insta: @ggsewing.
I also handle graphics, artwork placement, and graphic production, meaning I can help separate colors for screen printing, prep art for production, or figure out whatever your factory needs. Basically, I act as a direct contact to help translate your ideas into what your factory actually understands. Does that make sense?
